Why I talk
Fifteen years working as a creative in advertising gave me skills I didn’t fully appreciate until I began this work at the podium. Those skills are being able to communicate simply and effectively about topics that can be intrinsically difficult to articulate or understand. My unique point of difference is that all my slides are illustrations; illustrated by me. There’s not a pie chart, a bullet point or graph to be seen. Research has shown that people will retain 70-90% more information if the content is visually interesting. What I’ve realised is that an image that is visceral combined with a powerful verbal metaphor; can get to the core of a message in the blink of an eye.
