BBC World Service: The Forum

By 11 June 2012No Comments

Last Wednesday night I did an a panel interview on the BBC World Service; The Forum, hosted by Bridget Kendall.

The other panelists were Vikram Patel a psychiatrist from India who is trying to implement measures of mental health care for developing countries, for those many millions who aren’t getting it. Gwen Adshead another psychiatrist who does incredibly brave work with those who are sited as criminally insane by the courts at Britain’s highest security hospital/prison. And there was me talking about my Black Dog books. A lot of the discussion was about the importance of story telling and narrative when trying to understand mental health issues – something I am really interested in. I have to admit I was initially quite nervous but the hour simply whizzed by, as Bridget said ‘think of it as if you’re at a good dinner party’.

If you do take a listen, I hope you enjoy the main course.
